An opportunity has arisen and we are looking to strengthen our Engineering Management Team and are seeking to recruit an Assistant Engineering Manager to support our Derby Depot. Reporting to the Engineering Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for all operations of the engineering function, including engineering and support staff, the correct maintenance of the bus fleet to both Company and VOSA standards, adherence and compliance with all Health and Safety requirements.
We are looking for an individual with exceptional attention to detail in the allocation of work, excellent people management skills, along with the technical know-how and the ability to effectively work within a budget.
Other requirements for the role will be IT literacy along with experience of working with computerised inventory systems. Knowledge of quality management techniques and processes will be an advantage. A full driving licence is required for this post and PCV/LGV licence entitlements are advantageous.

Arriva Midlands is currently looking to recruit a Skilled Shift Charge Hand to be based at our Derby Depot. The successful applicant will have previous PCV or LGV experience and possess excellent diagnostic skills.
As Shift Charge Hand you will be required to:
- Demonstrate good supervisory and management skills
- Ensure that company maintenance standards and procedures are followed
- Effectively utilise all engineering and cleaning staff
- Ensure compliance with Department of Transport Standards (VOSA)
- Focus on cost control and ensure parts and materials are only changed when necessary
- Ensure all relevant paper work is completed
This position also involves approximately 15% administration functions & 85% rectification work
There is an emphasis on team working; excellent communication skills are required with other departments. Electrical skills for diagnostic purposes would be advantageous. The post requires working on a 4 on 4 off shift system basis. A full driving licence is essential.
In return we offer an excellent remuneration package (circa £32,000 pa), plus potential overtime.

The ideal candidates will possess excellent diagnostic skills and be a good communicator as there is emphasis on team working. Familiarity of the V.O.S.A requirements would be desirable. A full UK driving licence is essential and a PCV licence is advantageous.
This position requires shift working on a 5 over 7 basis; day shift, early shift and late shift with a guaranteed 39 hours per week and the possibility of overtime.
