Job Description

Tower Transit is a key player in London and Singapore, two of the world’s top cities. 

Additionally there are subsidiaries in Cambridge and Perivale delivering commercial and specialist coach services.  We employ around 2100 people across 4 different sites in the UK, and a further 900 in Singapore. A dynamic and innovative business, we strive to be the worlds most respected passenger transport operator.

Due to a restructure, we are now looking to recruit an Operations Manager to run Lea Interchange, one of London’s busiest bus garages, with around 1000 staff and 250 buses, as well as a hydrogen bus facility. You will lead the depot through your operational management team, liaising closely with the Head of Engineering and the Engineering Managers. You will report directly to the Tower Transit Head of Operations, and work with the Safety Manager and the Head of Service Delivery. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining / enhancing operational standards in key areas, including safety, legal compliance, service performance, and people management.
  • Achieving the Depot’s agreed financial and operational targets
  • Ensuring that the Depot is adequately resourced to meet its workload requirements.
  • Proactively leading your direct reports ensuring that they are properly managed and appropriately developed
  • Promoting a harmonious and effective working relationship with the Depot based Trade Union representatives.
  • Delivering all short and long-term Depot Improvement Plans

 

Knowledge and Skills

We are looking for an individual with previous experience of managing a site-based team in a similar operational environment, and who has the enthusiasm and passion for working in a forward thinking company that is keen to develop processes and procedures that benefit the business.  Experience of managing in the bus sector or a similar industry and of managing to tight commercial contracts would be an advantage.  Ideally you will be financially aware and have leadership skills to enable you to provide effective day to day direction to your team.  A CPC in Passenger Transport would be a distinct advantage.

Overall the role would suit an enthusiastic team player who is able to deliver in a fast moving dynamic operational environment and who is able to support the delivery of excellent performance within the challenging environment of London’s busy streets.
